About Me..
Maybe I should have called this site Mama’s Music, Motors, Art and Mimosas+unlimited side quests.. but it just didn’t have quite the same catchy ring to it as Motors and Mimosas. In fact, if you want to start a blog or a social media page, and you start reading posts or watching videos by all the “gurus” out there, the first and most persistent thing you will hear is “Niche Down” or “pick a niche”, and the more specific the better.
This has always been my Achilles heel, (in life, not just social media) because as a woman with ADHD, I have many interests and hobbies and I am fully passionate about each and every one. I sing, I play and write music (of many different styles and genres I might add) I love cars and motorcycles and own several of each, I love to bake and cook, especially now that I get to share that joy with my little girl. I am an artist and I enjoy creating with many types of media including graphic design, oil paints and pastels, I obsess over old books, and I absolutely adore a glass(or two) of Gloria Ferrer’s Carneros Cuvée Rosé on an easy Sunday morning.
I embrace and immerse myself into everything that I am currently doing, and I love it. In ADHD speak we call this “hyper focus”. Now, you don’t have to have ADHD to be creative or into lots of things, and I think in my case it just poured gasoline on the fire. Honestly, there have been many days that I woefully wished I could be one of those people who only ever had one passion in life and pursued it to its fullest. Oh man, I can’t tell you how often I have dreamed of that.
Professionally I have worn many hats as well, from chimney repair to line cook to service department manager at a powersports dealership. And here I am, 31, mama to a beautiful 2 year old, and about to go back to school for a marketing degree.
As unique as my journey has been, as I get older I have been so surprised by how many people I really relate to, and how many people out there that relate to me. We’re all humans after all, and while we may not all be in the same boat, many of us are going through the same storms. So what you’ll find here is some helpful hints from a full time Mama who also needs to pay the bills, some laughs, a few cautionary tales, classic cars and classy drinks.
Motors and Mimosas is a lifestyle for those that work very hard, pursue their passions, and never forget to find the joy in any given moment. I am here to remind you that just like a fresh and sparkling mimosa, or the sound of a spooling turbo, life is a delight.
Cheers 🥂
